COFFEE VARIETIES & MILLING PROCESS: Indigenous landraces and heirloom cultivars, fully washed and dried on raised beds
Ethiopia is where coffee was born. Literally — Coffea arabica originated in the forests of the Ethiopian highlands, and the wild-grown heirloom cultivars here predate any modern variety by centuries. When you drink a washed Ethiopian light roast, you're drinking the most authentic expression of the plant that started it all.
This one comes from Limu Seka, a district in the Jimma Zone of Oromia at 1,900 meters above sea level — high enough that the cherries ripen slowly, concentrating sugars, building complexity, and delivering the kind of layered delicacy that makes Ethiopian light roasts impossible to replicate anywhere else on Earth.
Sourced through Fahem General Trading PLC and grown by approximately 3,000 smallholder farmers tending the hillsides surrounding the wet mill, this coffee is a collective effort — each picker, each farmer contributing to a result that's bigger than any one of them. After harvest, cherries are depulped, fermented underwater for 12 hours for precision clarity, soaked again, and then dried slowly on raised beds. It's a washed process executed with the patience and rigor the cup demands.
The result: blueberry upfront — bright and honest, not jammy. Black tea threading through the mid-palate, pulling everything into focus. A finish of cream that extends the cup long after the last sip. The body is velvety without weight, the acidity lifted without sharpness, the balance the kind you stop and notice.
Fahem General Trading's work extends into the community — funding local schools, farmer training, and infrastructure — ensuring the positive impact of this coffee reaches well beyond your morning ritual.
